In the foothills of Trassierra, in an area of expansion and growth in the city of Córdoba is where this housing development is located. It is considered an area with good communications, planned in 2001 that after twenty years is beginning to consolidate.
The rigid urban layout imposes volumes with 12 meters wide and long facades facing east and west orientation. The target is to take advantage of the prevailing winds in the area and permanently enjoy the views of Trassierra from anywhere in the sector.
The building, with 40 dwellings, is organized around four staircases. The 12-meter-wide building model allows all dwellings to have been designed as “pass-through homes”, with double ventilation and lighting, thus guaranteeing greater climatic comfort of the rooms as well as the maximum energy sustainability of the complex.
The interior distribution of the houses is related to the environment; for this reason, the living rooms and kitchens (day area) have been arranged with a continuous terrace of variable width facing the street, looking for the best views of the nearby mountain. On the opposite side, towards the interior of the block, facing the first lights of the morning and protected from the noise of the street, the bedrooms, where the need for tranquility and calm is more demand.
The east facade has an order that the main elevation does not have. It has been designed with a cartesian order in which it is not possible to distinguish one dwelling from another. It is a façade that will always be seen in foreshortening, the bruising of the brick, the texture of the concrete or the rhythm of shadows caused by the golden fins have been designed with that intention.
The main image of this promotion is given by the solar protections in the west side. This facade is identified with Córdoba, the city of jewelers. The vibrant golden glow of the lattices gives the whole a changing and rich image throughout the day, a texture that evolves with the hours and for which this promotion is recognized.
Two more materials complement the golden color. For the façade, faced clinker brick with two tones and differentiated fillers has been used, for the structure we opt for the finish of fair-faced concrete. This perception of the materials used also changes according to the distance... nearby you can see the careful execution of the brickwork, the touch of the concrete or the perfection of the blacksmith work that with the precision of a jeweler have known how to work metal…, As soon as one moves away from them, they dissolve like the threads of a tapestry to give way to the forms that make up the great volume built.
