The FL house is situated in the heart of the Douro in the city of Peso da Régua, one of Europe’s oldest regions, considered a visual and historic paradise of undisputed value.
Having as backdrop the mountain range of Marão and overlooking the Douro valley, the FL house sights a magnificent landscape of vineyards sloping in the direction of the river.
This is a single-family house composed by two floors and a basement, with a T4 (4 bedrooms) typology (plus an additional office).
Situated on a steep slope, a volumetric redistribution was created as to obtain a visual-aesthetic balance, achieved by retreating and overhanging the facade making the house’s height visually smaller, thanks to this game of volumes.
The FL house is characterized by its elegance and modernity, yet it respects the environment it’s inserted into, through the use of traditional colours and materials.
Having to make the most of the landscape as main concept, the big openings allow the surrounding environment to be transported to the interior of the house.
The deep interior-exterior relationship is made quite clear by the generous area of open terraces culminating with the position of the swimming pool as a direct extension of the house’s living experience and enjoyment: it is accessible through the living room or even the bedrooms.
